Operator apps: web, Windows, macOS, Android

To provide support, open the web console in your browser, install the Windows or macOS operator app, or get the Android app from Google Play.

The operator is the person providing support. To connect to remote computers, you use an operator console that you sign in to with a Polpo Desk account. The console comes in four forms; all of them use the same account, the same device list and the same settings.

Web console

You can provide support from your browser without installing anything.

  1. Sign in to the Panel.
  2. Select Access in the menu on the left.
  3. Under Operator console, press Open on the Web Console card.
  4. The console opens in a new tab; sign in with your account.

The web console is loaded from the server every time it opens, so you don't need to update it separately.

Windows app

Downloading and running

  1. In the panel's Access section, press Download on the Windows App card. The PolpoDesk-Operator.exe file is downloaded.
  2. Double-click the file. The Polpo Desk Operatör window opens.
  3. On the sign-in screen, enter your email and password and sign in.

The app is a single file and works fully even without installing it.

Installing adds desktop and Start menu shortcuts and registers the app in the Windows Apps list.

  1. While the app isn't installed, a bar appears at the top: Install the console on this computer… Press Install now there. The same option is also available on the sign-in screen and under Settings → Application → Install on this computer.
  2. In the Windows User Account Control window, choose Yes.
  3. The app is copied to the C:\Program Files\Polpo Desk Operator folder, the installed copy opens and the copy you downloaded closes.

From now on, open the app from the desktop or Start menu shortcut. It appears in the Apps list as Polpo Desk Operatör.

The operator app is installed in a separate folder from the client. The same computer can have both the client and the operator app installed; removing one doesn't affect the other.
The sign-in screen (Operator Sign-in) is shown in the language last used in the console on this computer; the web console also follows the language you chose in the panel. The first time you open it, it uses your computer's display language (or English if that language isn't supported). You can change the interface language at any time from the language menu.

macOS app

  1. In the panel's Access section, press Download on the macOS App card. The PolpoDesk-Operator.dmg file is downloaded.
  2. Open the .dmg file.
  3. In the window that opens, drag the app to the Applications folder.
  4. Open Polpo Desk Operatör from the Applications folder and sign in with your account.

The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 13 or later.

Android app

To provide support from your phone, install Polpo Desk Operator from Google Play, or search for "Polpo Desk Operator" in Google Play. The app runs on Android 8.0 or later, works on every plan including the Free plan, and uses the same account, device list and favorites as the desktop console. For installing, signing in and using it with touch, see Providing support from your phone.

After signing in

If you don't have an account, ask your administrator for an invitation or sign up on the website. New accounts can't be created from inside the operator app.
