Install on Linux and Pardus

Install Polpo Desk on Pardus, Debian and similar systems with the .deb package: requirements, updating, removal and what Linux leaves out.

Last updated:

On Linux, Polpo Desk is a single app: the same window lets you receive support and connect to other devices. It ships as a .deb package and has been tested on Pardus 25 and Debian 12.

Processorx64, dual core or better

Polpo Desk doesn't run in a Wayland session. Pardus Xfce already uses X11. On other desktops, choose the X11 (Xorg) session on the login screen.

Install

  1. Download PolpoDesk.deb from the Linux download page.
  2. Double-click the file and install it with the package installer, or open a terminal in the file's folder and run:

``bash sudo apt install ./PolpoDesk.deb ``

  1. Open Polpo Desk from the applications menu.

The window shows Your connection ID and the Session password. To provide support, sign in with Operator sign-in at the top right. When you close the window, the app keeps running in the system tray.

Not available on Linux

  • The privacy screen isn't available.
  • Unattended access and service installation aren't available: the app must be open and a user signed in to receive support.
  • Remote restart isn't available.
  • One-click updates aren't available; follow the steps below.

Update

Download the new package from the Linux download page and install it the same way. Your connection ID stays the same.

Remove

Run this command in a terminal:

sudo apt remove polpodesk
